8.10.18- 5.11.18 (Week 7 - Week 11) Tamara Audrey Saputra (0335846) Illustration and Visual Narrative Project 2 - Graphic Novel Instructions Week 7 We were briefed about our second project. This project's goal is to see how we can translate a story visually using at least 3 type of transitions. Mr. Hafiz suggested us to take a story written by Edgar Allan Poe. I decided to use 'The Man of the Crowd' ( https://poestories.com/read/manofthecrowd ). To summarise it, the story is about a man who loves to observe people and one day he saw an old man he finds intriguing and follows him. Week 8 I then jot down all the important words that describe the atmosphere and descriptive. After that, I created the storyboards. Working either with our previous comic or a create a new one.  I decided to do a webcomic on a children's short story: 'The Fox and the Crow'. Summary: A crow has a cheese a fox wants. The fox asks the bird to sing. It does and drops the cheese. fig 1: The Fox and the Crow I then did researches on how children stories are usually depicted and I also find references about the environment as well as the animals such as the fox and the crow. fig 2: Moodboard I then proceed to make the storyboard. Fig 3: Storyboards I did all the illustration in Photoshop. Relying mainly on brushes (charcoal, airbrush, hard round) and its opacity. Fig 4: Sketchin

Our lecturer, Mr. Hafiz wanted us to really get used to the usage of  Pen  Tool in Illustrator as this will be an extremely essential tool in the design field. Hence, our first exercise is to trace out the Vormator objects and create a character out of these set of objects. Vormator was actually a challenge to showcase how limitations could trigger the best out of our creativity. Fig 1: Vormator Challenge Fig 2: Traced Objects Week 2 This week's lecture we were taught that by infusing stereotypes into our character designs allow us to communicate our character's role/personalities better to our audience. May it be from the exaggeration of a specific par
